In November 2017, the Montgomery County Economic Development Authority (EDA) purchased 125 acres of additional property located directly adjacent to the current EDA-owned Falling Branch Corporate Park. This additional acreage is now known as Falling Branch Corporate Park Phase II, and will soon have a 20-acre shovel-ready pad available.
Virginia Tech uses its internationally known faculty, a broad range of research facilities, and a track record of cooperation across disciplines and organizations to help business and public and private groups worldwide address complex problems and respond to opportunities.
Site improvements will soon be underway on a 20-acre graded pad in Phase II of Falling Branch Corporate Park directly beside FedEx Ground. The pad will be shovel ready by late 2024 with utilities to site and a paved access road.
Virginia and Montgomery County have competitive, stable tax structures.
Nationally recognized for its conservative fiscal practices, Virginia has one of the fairest and most stable tax structures of the 50 states. Both businesses and individuals carry their share of the tax load. The General Assembly has kept taxes on industry competitive and has eliminated many tax irritants. The state corporate income tax rate, one of the lowest in the nation, has not increased since 1972. Virginia also offers a very modest local tax bill for industry. Items taxed at the state level are not taxed at the local level, with the exception of sales and use tax; and Virginia taxes new and existing industries equally.
In Virginia, towns are are political subdivision of counties and provide public services in lieu of, or in addition to, those provided by their respective county. Businesses operating within an incorporated town may be subject to certain county and/or town taxes.
