Aegisound - A Technology-based manufacturer of products targeting hearing health and communications for both military and industrial noise environments.

Center for Vehicle Systems and Safety (CVeSS) at Virginia Tech - CVeSS is engaged in a wide variety of research ranging from advanced vehicle suspensions, to measurement and modeling of terrain and terramechanics, to biodynamics, to dynamic control of vehicle systems, to vehicle stability and rollover analysis.  The center consists of four laboratories: The Advanced Vehicle Dynamics Laboratory, Vehicle Terrain Performance Laboratory, Performance Engineering and Research Laboratory and Railway Technologies Laboratory.

Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI) - Virginia Tech's largest university-level research center conducting research in the transportation field by developing and using state-of-the-art tools, techniques, and technologies to solve transportation challenges.  VTTI manages the Virginia Smart Road, a state-of-the-art, full-scale, 2.2 mile closed test-bed research facility featuring weather-making capabilities (rain, snow, fog), variable lighting, pavement markings, an on-site data acquisition system, road weather information systems, differential GPS system, road access and surveillance, and a signalized intersection.

Virginia Taxes

Nationally recognized for its conservative fiscal practices, Virginia has one of the fairest and most stable tax structures of the 50 states. Both businesses and individuals carry their share of the tax load. The General Assembly has kept taxes on industry competitive and has eliminated many tax irritants. The state corporate income tax rate, one of the lowest in the nation, has not increased since 1972. Virginia also offers a very modest local tax bill for industry. Items taxed at the state level are not taxed at the local level, with the exception of sales and use tax; and Virginia taxes new and existing industries equally.
