Sporting Events

Virginia Tech is a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). In addition to Hokie football at Lane Stadium, basketball at Cassell Coliseum and swim meets at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center, locals enjoy attending numerous collegiate and recreational sporting events.


Intercollegiate Sports

Virginia Tech Hokies - Virginia Tech is a member of the elite Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).  Since joining the ACC in 2004, fans have had a chance to attend some of the most competitive games in the nation. Ticketing information available at www.hokietickets.com.

  • Hokie Football - Lane Stadium is an incredible place to experience college football. Considered one of the loudest stadiums in the country and recognized in 2005 by Rivals.com as having the best home-field advantage in the country. The greatest season in Virginia Tech football history came in 1999 when the Hokies played Florida State in the National Championship Game. From the 1999 to 2009 seasons, the Hokies have averaged 10 wins and 3 losses a year and have appeared in 11 straight bowl games, three of which were in the Bowl Championship Series (BCS).

Radford Highlanders - Radford University is a member of the Big South Conference.  The Highlander men's basketball team has made two appearances to the NCAA tournament since 1998.

Minor League Baseball

Salem Red Sox - The Salem Red Sox are a minor league baseball team based in nearby Salem, Virginia. They are a Class High-A team in the Carolina League, and an affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.

Pulaski Yankees - The Pulaski Yankees are a minor league baseball team based in Pulaski, Virginia. They are an Advanced Rookie League team in the Appalachian League, and an affiliate of the New York Yankees.

Motor Sports

Motor Mile Speedway (Pulaski, VA) - Motor Mile Speedway is a NASCAR sanctioned 4/10 mile paved oval located just outside of Montgomery County.  Racing includes classes of Late Model Stock, Limited Sportsman, MOD-4, Street Stock, Southern Ground Pounders and UCARs.

Motor Mile Dragway (Pulaski, VA) - Motor Mile Dragway is a 1/8 mile concrete IHRA dragstrip just outside of Montgomery County.  Racing includes Super Pro, Footbrake, DOT Street, Motorcycles and Jr. Dragsters.
