Bus Service

Blacksburg Transit -  An award winning bus service with routes in Blacksburg and Christiansburg.
  

 

Smart Way Bus - A commuter bus service enables residents of  Montgomery County-Blacksburg-Christiansburg to travel to nearby Roanoke, Virginia . The service begins in downtown Blacksburg at the Virginia Tech Squires Student Center and ends in downtown Roanoke at Campbell Court. 

Notable Smart Way Bus Connection Points:

  • Squires Student Center (Blacksburg) - Connects with Blacksburg Transit
  • K-Mart  (Christiansburg) - Connects with Blacksburg Transit
  • Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport (Roanoke) - Regional airport with commercial air service to nine different cities.
  • Campbell Court (Roanoke) - Connects with Roanoke Valley Metro  
  
 Valley Metro -  The Greater Roanoke Transit Company, locally known as Valley Metro, provides service throughout the Roanoke Valley.  Montgomery County-Blacksburg-Christiansburg residents can transfer to Valley Metro buses through the Smart Way commuter Stop at Campbell Court in downtown Roanoke.  
  
MegaBus - A commuter bus service offering three (3) trips per day to and from Washington, DC and Knoxville, TN from the Falling Branch Park and Ride Lot in Christiansburg.  The MegaBus stop in Washington, D.C. is located in the parking lot on H St. NW opposite 10th St. NW. This is about two blocks from the Metro Center metro stop on the blue, orange, and red lines, and convenient to Virginia Tech locations in Old Town Alexandria, Falls Church, and Arlington.

RIDE Share Solutions - Using computer mapping software, RIDE Share Solutions facilitates the formation of carpools based on commuters' origin and destination points, their schedule and lifestyle parameters.  RIDE Share Solution also connects commuters to transit routes and offers free taxi rides home in the event of a personal emergency, providing peace of mind for those who worry about being stuck at work. 

Airports
 Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport - Offers more than 50 scheduled flights daily, providing nonstop service from nearby Roanoke, Virginia to Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, New York, Orlando, Tampa, and Washington, DC.  The major airlines that fly out of Roanoke Regional Airport daily include US Airways, United Airlines, Delta and Allegiant Air.
