Montgomery County, Virginia– On Friday, May 3, 2019, the Roanoke-Blacksburg Technology Council (RBTC) held their annual TechNite event at the Hotel Roanoke.  TechNite is a celebration of the Roanoke-Blacksburg region's technology community, with several award presentations throughout the night.

This year's award presentations included the following five categories: Rising Star, Entrepreneur of the Year, Innovator of the Year, Regional Leadership, and Company of the Year.  In addition to these five awards, the RBTC also inducted two people into their Hall of Fame.

While only having seven nominees out of fifteen total amongst the five award categories, Montgomery County companies and individuals took home awards in four out of the five categories.  This year's Company of the Year winner was 1901 Group.  The Regional Leadership award was shared between Virginia Tech's President, Timothy Sands, and the President & CEO of the Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Nancy Agee.  The Innovator of the Year award went to Luna Innovations.  Entrepreneur of the Year was awarded to Michael Fleming, CEO of TORC Robotics.  And finally, the Rising Star award, which is sponsored by the Montgomery County Economic Development Department, was presented to Block.one.  Along with these awards given to Montgomery County companies and individuals, Montgomery County's own Marty Muscatello, President & CEO of FoxGuard Solutions, Inc., was inducted into the RBTC's Hall of Fame.
