Montgomery County, Virginia – CNBC just released its America's Top States for Business 2017 rankings.  Out of 50 states, Virginia moved up six spots from the 2016 rankings to place number 7 in this year's rankings.

CNBC's rankings are based on more than 60 measures of competitiveness, with input from a broad and diverse array of business and policy experts according to CNBC.  Out of the 60 metrics, they are then broken down into 10 broad categories weighted by how frequently each category is used as a selling point for the state in their economic development marketing materials.  These categories include workforce, infrastructure, cost of doing business, economy, quality of life, technology and innovation, education, business friendliness, access to capital, and cost of living.

Out of the ten categories, Virginia ranked very well in both Workforce, placing 2nd, and Business Friendliness, placing 7th, out of all 50 states.  To read more about CNBC's Top State for Business 2017 rankings, please visit http://www.cnbc.com/2017/07/11/americas-top-states-for-business-2017-overall-ranking.html
