TORC Robotics Announces Expansion
In Their Current Blacksburg Facility

Montgomery County, VA - TORC Robotics, Inc. (TORC®), a leader in self-driving vehicle solutions, announced today it will expand its corporate headquarters in Montgomery County. The company, currently located in the Blacksburg Industrial Park, will be undergoing a $200,000 interior expansion to its current facility in Phase V of Blacksburg Industrial Park. TORC anticipates creating 20 new jobs through the expansion.

Montgomery County worked with the Town of Blacksburg and the Virginia Small Business Financing Authority to support the project. Through a lease agreement with TORC, the Economic Development Authority of Montgomery County (EDA) will upfit approximately 3,000 square feet of warehouse space to office space to support TORC’s growing workforce. TORC currently leases 20,700 square feet in their facility in Phase V of the Blacksburg Industrial Park.

“Montgomery County is proud that TORC has chosen to continue its success here as a pioneer of unmanned systems, vehicle automation and robotics,” said Chris Tuck, Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors. “TORC is developing the most advanced autonomous systems on the market in its state-of-the-art facility.”

Since its founding in 2006, TORC (www.torcrobotics.com) has grown to become a major leader in unmanned systems, vehicle automation, and robotics. The company spun out of an idea CEO and Co-founder Michael Fleming had while working in the Virginia Tech robotics department. Armed with unmatched experience, knowledge, and capabilities, TORC has delivered countless successful solutions for the military, mining, agriculture, and automotive industries. In partnership with Virginia Tech, TORC has also successfully competed in the Urban Challenge and Robotics Challenge through the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) as well as the National Federation of the Blind’s Blind Driver Challenge®.
