FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 10, 2013 From Town of Christiansburg | |
Christiansburg, Virginia - Christiansburg has been named one of the top places for job seekers in Virginia by NerdWallet (www.nerdwallet.com).
The online consumer resource factored in population growth, median household income and unemployment rates to rank the ten localities on their list.
“Christiansburg prides itself on being a business friendly community and this ranking by NerdWallet is confirmation that this philosophy is paying off in jobs for our community,” said Christiansburg Mayor Richard Ballengee.
Part of the Blacksburg-Christiansburg-Radford metropolitan area, Christiansburg has encouraged retail and residential development in the community. This encouragement has led to an 8.5% population growth from 2009-2011.
“We congratulate the Town of Christiansburg on this well-deserved accolade. The town has welcomed retail and residential development and made significant investments that have attracted many major companies at the Christiansburg Industrial Park and Falling Branch Corporate Park,” said Montgomery County Economic Development Director Brian Hamilton.
Developed in the late 1980’s, the Christiansburg Industrial Home Park is home to CCS-Inc., which was named an Inc. 5000 company for growth in 2013. Falling Branch Corporate Park is home to six major companies with 1,200 employees and over $50 million in new investments since 2002.
Of the ten localities listed, Christiansburg is the only locality to represent southwestern Virginia.
